Mini-Grant Received to Purchase PC Games

The Library received a mini-grant from the Foundation to purchase PC games. We anticipate being able to initiate the in-house check-out of the games in January 2006. We will have two computers dedicated for gaming during regular library hours, and when we have "gaming events," we'll bring in a few monitors for xbox games, open all the computers for gaming, and also have board games available.

Some of the 35 games we are ordering will include:
Puzzle-games (MahJong, Hoyle Puzzle & Board Games)
Sports (Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2006, NBA Live)
Edutainment (Age of Mythology, History Channel Civil War: Battle of Bull Run)
Role-Playing (Sid Meier's Pirates, Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth)
Fantasy (Myst, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic)
Adventure (Beyond Good and Evil, Civilization 4)
Speed Games (Need for Speed: Underground 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon)
Bio-Feedback (Journey to Wild Divine)

These games will not connect to the internet, and are one-person games. Only "keyboard" games will be played during regular library hours. We'll bring out the xbox and games that use game-pads only during gaming nights.

Our thanks to all of the students who advised us concerning ratings, content, and game suggestions that they thought would be most appropriate for a library setting. We look forward to your continued input as we adventure through this new library program!
